Dover Bible Church was established in 1838 by Joseph Brigham. It was originally named the First Congregational Church of Dover and retained that name until 2011. In April 2011 we decided to change the name to Dover Bible Church. This was done for two primary reasons.

First, the church in Dover has been closely affiliated with the Christian & Missionary Alliance for more than 15 years but had retained the “Congregational” name. Our leadership team and the rest of our members decided that was misleading to the public and that it was time to change.

Secondly, and more importantly, we wanted to clearly and distinctly declare, within our name, that we are a church who is committed to the Scriptures which clearly and unashamedly testify of the saving grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. That commitment far exceeds our commitment to the C&MA or any other affiliation gospel, we believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior, Sanctifier, Healer and Coming King.

By coming together, we are a family with a mission focus based on Acts 1:8 “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” For more information, click on the link below each icon.
